A Servant’s Heart

The night before He died the Lord Jesus showed us the importance of serving one another in love.

God Bless,

NOTES/OUTLINE:

A SERVANT’S HEART

JOHN 13:1-15

STORY INTRO

SERVANT’S JOB TO WASH FEET. COMMON CULTURAL THING

STORY; JESUS SERVANT OF ALL

THOMAS WHO WOULD DOUBT HIM

PETER WHO WOULD DENY HIM

JUDAS WHO WOULD BETRAY HIM

THE DEGREE TO WHICH HE WOULD SERVE US THROUGH THE CROSS

HIS POINT WAS THAT WE ARE TO FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE

NOT FOOT-WASHING CEREMONY BUT LIVING IN SERVICE TO OTHERS.

HE TAUGHT HIS DISCIPLES TO LOVE AND CARE FOR THEIR FELLOWS, TO BE GRACIOUS AND GIVING, AND TO DO IT AS A GRACE TO THE UNDESERVING AS WELL AS THE DESERVING.

CHRIST’S WILL IS FOR US HERE TO SERVE AND CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER, TO LOVE AND BLESS, TO SEEK THE WELL-BEING OF ESPECIALLY OUR FELLOW CHURCH FAMILY.

AS WE TAKE LORD’S SUPPER IT IS SOMETHING THAT REMINDS US HOW UNITED WE ARE IN THE HEART AND MIND OF CHRIST

WE TAKE IT TOGETHER

WE TAKE IT FROM THE SAME LOAF, AND FROM THE SAME BOTTLE OF JUICE

IT IS A SYMBOL OF OUR UNITY AND LOVE FOR HIM

AND WITH ONE ANOTHER.

AS WE EXAMINE OURSELVES, …be kind, tenderhearted to one another…

AND ASK THE LORD TO SHOW US HOW WE CAN SERVE OUR FELLOW CHURCH MEMBERS.

WHETHER THEY DESERVE IT OR NOT

FOR NONE OF US DESERVE THE LOVE, SERVICE, AND SACRIFICE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
