ManPower: Servant-Leadership (Fathers Day 2021)

What is manhood according to God and His Word?
As men we often struggle to live up to the title, “Godly, Christian Man”. Here is a simple way to grow and stay balanced in our pursuit of manhood. Modeled on the Lord Jesus Christ as seen in the Old Testament, Gospels, and Revelation.

NOTES AND QUOTES:

MANPOWER: SERVANT LEADERSHIP. FATHERS’ DAY, 6-20-21

Mark 10:42-45 (NKJV) 42  But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43  Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. 44  And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. 45  For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Manhood still matters. Manly leadership and fatherhood still matter.

World has views of manhood and leadership: macho, tyrant, or no different from women.

Jesus doesn’t condemn ambition but gives god’s way to greatness. He was the example in their midst.

Biblical manhood and leadership

God holds man responsible, whether capable, skilled, wants to be or not…

A good and godly man wants to be a good leader for his family.

Men want to be men of integrity.

God of the Old Testament: “Power”, warrior, ruler, lion

God of the New Testament (Gospels): “Love”. Jesus; servant, meek and mild, washing others’ feet, self-sacrificial

We are called to be not just not men, but balanced men.

Look at Jesus in revelation: lion and lamb. King and servant.

Lion/warrior: power applied, examples in bible and life

Lamb/servant: power bestowed; examples in bible and life

Balance necessary. Examples of extremes
